A new digital work by Joe Fleming spanning 28 feet, accompanied by a soundscape.

The Bench, by Joe Fleming, unfolds as an act of witnessing, a place where memory settles and thoughts gather. Through a language of layered images and a soundscape the work transforms the ordinary bench on a narrow street in Athens, Greece into both a form of measure and confessional: a space where fleeting reflections, doubts, desires, and passing moments are held before they disappear.

Created over the course of two months while in Greece, Fleming’s diaristic process embraces accumulation. A scribble. A note. A drawing. A photograph. A film. A recording. Together they form a visual narrative. Each fragment is woven into a cinematic digital collage. The Bench invites viewers to inhabit the restless landscape of the mind, where the smallest marks become monuments to being alive, and where personal expression unfolds as something deeply private and quietly universal.
